Team position : Member, Data Strand

Background : I am a data manager working with networks of ecosystem-level research, including the US-Long Term Ecological Research Network (LTER), and US Marine Biodiversity Observation Network (MBON). I focus mainly on data curation and archive steps of a ‘research life cycle’. My scientific background is in biological oceanography.  

Key disciplines and skillsets : Data curation practices and use of metadata standards, primarily Ecological Metadata Language; Semantics/description of measurements; Data repository operations (some of them, anyway!)

Expectations : Better connections between synthetic science projects and the data management communities; Thoroughly-described datasets in public repositories, on par with peer reviewed “data papers”; Repeatable workflows
