SEYLER Frédèrique

Director of the ESPACE-DEV research unit and Deputy director of DISCO Department “Internal and surface dynamics of the Continents” of IRD, France

Team position : member, Synthesis Strand

Background : With a PhD in Applied Geology and an HDR in Space Hydrology, my focus is on radar altimetry, in particular the Spatial distribution of soils using knowledge-based models and remote sensing (visible, IR and SAR), and characterization of land use (texture analysis, object-oriented approaches, expert classifications, modeling).

Key disciplines and skillsets : Space Hydrology (radar altimetry), Spatial distribution of soils using knowledge-based models and remote sensing (visible, IRband, SAR), Characterization of land use (texture analysis, object-oriented approaches, expert classifications, modeling).

Expectations : The Espace-dev Lab develops research on the spatial dynamics of eco-socio-systems, using knowledge-based and numerical models integrating remote sensing observations. I’d like the project to reinforce our skills in deep-learning exploration of mitigation of poverty and access to resources inequalities.
